Judge Ms Ruth Copping

Firstly I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of the PRTC for the privilege of judging at one of your shows, I thoroughly enjoyed the day and had some lovely dogs to go over. I only found one suspect mouth but teeth in some could have been cleaner, size is another thing that should be watched as some are getting too tall and even though they might still be spannable this makes them unbalanced. Movement in most was fine but there were a couple who didnt move well and this did reflect in my placings.

Veteran Dog 3,2abs 1st Vaughan's Ch Barsetta on a Mission for Parruss Stood alone but so worthy of his placing. He is 13 years old but showed and moved like a youngster. He has a lovely head with great shoulders and a really nice rear end, a real credit to his owner. Best Veteran in Show

Puppy Dog 2 1st Blair and Hadley's Cleevehill Kasper All white dog of 9 months up to size and doesnt want to grow anymore but he has a typical head, lovely dark eye lacking in some and great angulation all through, took a while to settle but once he did he moved and showed well, all in all a very nice puppy whom I shall watch with interest. Best Puppy in Show and Reserve Best Dog. 2nd Denby-Gardners Ammanday Able Tan and white 8 1/2 month old puppy who certainly was giving his handler a hard time. He is a nicely balanced dog but just a little on the big side for me. He has a lovely head with nice shoulders and rear angulation and he did move better once he'd settled .

Novice Dog 2 1st Brown and Grange's Aflinea Ratzer Ringlet Smooth coated dog of nice size if a little deep in chest, has a nice head with good smooth coat and rear angulation. In excellent muscular condition, moved and showed well. 2nd Maguire's Gonetoground Acadamy Award Tri coloured dog who is well up to size and not spannable but he has a nice head and coat. His tail set is a little low which detracts from the overall picture. Showed well for his young handler.

Post Graduate Dog 7,1abs 1st Hooleys' Hoolmark Sundance Kid Tan and white showy dog in great coat and condition easily spannable and nice balance. Great shoulders and nice rear, moved and showed well. 2nd Hughes and Cutler's Trumpmoor Exmoor Jimny Lovely old fashioned type dog in good condition. His coat is not the best but he has nice angulations and tail set, moved and showed well. 3rd Biglands Heythrop Tailwind

Limit Dog 5 1st Highfield's Bradpole Beau of Guestwick Strong dog without being course with good angulation and nice coat only just spannable but in good condition, could have better front feet. 2nd Broadberry's Ratscallion Tactical Move Dog of a better size than 1 but would like him a little narrower. He has a lovely head and shoulders with nice rear end, unfortunately he'd left his coat at home but was a close decision between 1 and 2. 3rd Burnhill's Avonwylde Stormer

Open Dog 6,2abs 1st Vaughan's Ch Parruss Comanche Chief JW ShCM Lovely type proper tri colour dog with excellent shoulders and is easily spannable. He has a great coat with nice bend of stifle. Best Dog, Reserve Best in Show, Best Opposite Sex in Show - lost out to the bitch for Best in Show by a whisker, a very difficult decision. 2nd Tagg's Ch Rymshott Tactic A nice showy dog in good condition. He is spannable with a lovely head and eye. He has great angulation and moved and showed well. 3rd Sollis' Ch Mister Bonamonty

Veteran Bitch 6,1abs 1st Culter's Trumpmoor Exmoor Appy Daze An old favourite of mine who now at nearly 8 still shows like a youngster. She is a lovely type with a great coat with a lovely feminine head. Moved and showed well. 2nd Neild's Janey Of St Clair at Logierait Another lovely old fashioned type who showed well. She has a good coat and head and nice angulation, docked a little short which just detracts from the overall balance. 3rd Ch Ebblechase Eleanor

Minor Puppy Bitch 3,2abs 1st Meyer's Coclestane Cinnamon Nearly 9 months old but still very much a baby. Nice puppy with a lovely coat and a nice head. She just needs to mature and settle on the move. Reserve Best Puppy in Show

Junior Bitch 5 1st Bigland's Araceta Beatrice From Pacolito A lovely sized bitch of good type with nice head and shoulders, great coat and rear angulation could do with a little more weight just to finish her off. Moved and showed well. 2nd Minnett's Pacolito Seksy A nice young bitch with lovely angulation, she is maturing nicely and moved and showed well but her coat could be better. 3rd Broadberry's Portleberry Forget Me Not

Novice Bitch 3,1abs 1st Tinegate's Gonetoground Gogo Girl A nice showy bitch of great type, lovely size and with good angulation which showed in her movement. Very nice, pushed hard for RBB. 2nd Bigland's Heythrop Tango Nice size bitch who moved ok she was a little on the lean side and a little shy otherwise a nice bitch.

Post Graduate Bitch 11,5abs 1st Minnett's Princess Lilo Bitch whom I have judged before and still like her a lot she has a great coat, lovely shoulders and rear angulation with good tailset, moves and shows very well if being really picky would like her a shade smaller but she still did enough to be awarded RBB. 2nd Blair's Gonetoground Go Getter Nice bitch of good size with good angulation all through just doesnt show her self off to the best advantage and needs to be gone over to be appreciated 3rd Neild's Logierait Little Lotte

Limit Bitch 6,2abs 1st White's Ebblechase Elspeth Lovely young bitch who is up to size but has everything in the right place, she has a great coat with nice shoulders and rear, showed well. 2nd Dolman's Pacolito Phirstpix to Maxtay Older slightly heavier bitch but is still very nice with good head and shoulders, coat could be better. 3rd Eastwood's Pacolito Phigurehead at Denlyhill

Open Bitch 6,1abs 1st Tagg's Hoolmark Tidy The first word on my notes on this bitch are WOW. She is a super bitch of great size and type, she is so feminine and commanded the ring as soon as she entered it. Her shoulders and rear angulation are great and she moves well. There is only one thing I dont like about this girl and that is that I dont own her. Best Bitch and Best In Show. 2nd Bigland's Ch Heythrop Tiadrop Great size and type a worthy Champion just not showing her best today but still a very nice bitch. 3rd White's Ebblechase Rosanna

Firstly I'd like to thank the club's members for giving me the honour of judging this show, the club's committee and helpers who made it run so smoothly, and the exhibitors who allowed me to judge their dogs. I truly enjoyed the challenge of going over all these terriers and finding my winners. The overall standard was good but two things which I feel we all need to work on as a breed are movement and coats as both were somewhat erratic today - although coats may primarily be down to the time of year. Temperaments however were excellent which was great to see.

Minor Puppy Dog (5 Entries / 2 Absent) 1. Bigland's Heythrop Tantrum Tri Colour 7 month old - lacking coat today. Has a nice head and topline. Good size overall. Movement does need to settle - a little erratic at times today. RBPIS 2. Vaughan's Goldfern Grand Design Tri Colour 6mth old. Nice head and expression. Good coat. Front needs to tighten. Wouldn't like him to grow on any more. 3. Douglas' Gone to Ground Spick n'span Tan and White 6 month old. Slightly deeper in the chest but spannable. Good coat. Head not as strong as I and 2 but plenty of time to mature yet.

Puppy Dog (5/2) 1. Roberts and Murray's Chataway Pheasant Plucker Tan and White 10mth old. Super correct shaped head with keen expression. Nice topline, spannable, Good coat. Movement ok - showed well for handler. 2. Baker's Pacolito Prymeval Tan and White. 9mth old. Good harsh coat with super head & expression. Well balanced, spanned ok but not quite the movement of 1 today. 3. Vaughan's Goldfern Grand Design (as above)

Junior Dog (4/1) 1. Brown and Grange's Afinlea Ratzer Ringlet Smooth coated Tri Colour. Good for overall size and balance. Well shaped head with keen expression. Easy to span. Moved with drive to win the class. 2.Eastwood's Pacolito Rogue Trader at Denlyhill Tri colour with good strength of head. Easily Spanned but movement not as settled as 1. 3. Hall's Frithgarth Magic Sandpiper Not in the best of coats today but has a lovely head and expression. Slightly deeper in chest than 1 and 2 but spannable. Novice Dog (1/0) 1. Maguire's Gonetoground Academy Award Tri Colour. Good head and lovely coat. Straight in front but a little wide for me. Held topline well on the move.

Graduate Dog (2/0) 1. Bigland's Heythrop Tailwind Tan and White. He is slightly longer in balance but has a well shaped head and front with harsh coat. Movement needs to tighten 2. Hall's Frithgarth Mighty Gandalf Well proportioned head with straight front. Well balanced with super coat but slightly bigger and deeper in the chest than 1.

Post Graduate Dog (3/2) 1. Moore's Moonreapers Billy Bones Tan and White. Smooth coat. A workmanlike dog with good hard muscle and condition. Super head and easy to span. Moved with purpose but at times slightly erractic and losing topline.

Limit Dog (8/1) 1.Broadberry's Ratscallion Tactical Move Tan and White. Strong head of correct shape, with good length of neck. Straight front and lovely outline especially when on the move. Super coat. 2. Sutton's Pacolito Persona at Springbeck Smart dog with well shaped head and correct topline. Sadly lacking in coat today. 3. Burnhill's Avonwylde Stormer Smooth coat. Moved well holding correct topline. Front a little wide.

Open Dog (8/1) 1. Tagg's Ch Rymshott Tactic Lovely type of terrier who excelled on the move. Well muscled. Great outline with correct topline. Strong head (with keen expression) and good front. In good coat and easily spannable. Thoroughly deserved his DCC and BIS. 2. Vaughan's Ch Parruss Comanche Chief JW Smart dog who moves with drive & purpose. He has well shaped head & neck with kind expression. Slightly deeper in the chest than 1 but spannable. Correct topline, shorter coupled than some. Worked well with handler, pleased to award him RCC 3. Hooley's Ch Hoolmark Johnny Ringo Another well balanced, strong terrier with great body and outline. Nice length of neck. Sadly coat lacking today.

Veteran Dog (1/0) 1. Brown and Grange's Ch Afinlea Roadside Skipper An old favourite of mine who seems to defy the years - still as showy as ever with great head and expression. Strong quarters, moved with drive covering the ground effortlessly. Pushed hard for RDCC, but very happy to award him BVIS.

Bitches

1. Smith and Moon's Alncroft I Spy 9mth old Tan and White. Great size, attractive feminine head with correct proportions. Lovely reach of neck. Well balanced terrier. Well balanced, good in outline with correct topline and feminine head. Not quite the movement of 1 today 3. Baker's Pacolito Phinale 7mth old Tan and White. Puppy Bitch (6/0) 1. Smith and Moon's Alncroft I Spy 2. Baker's Pacolito Malarki Another showy terrier from this kennel. Has feminine head and correct topline. Not quite the front or rear movement of 1 but time on her side 3. Broadberry's Portleberry Forget me Not 11mth old Tan and White. Good head amd neck. Junior Bitch (10/3) 1. Tinegate's Gonetoground Gogo Girl Well balanced showy terrier with correct topline. Excellent front and looked good in profile. Kept correct topline on the move. Coat somewhat lacking today and movement was a little unsettled. 3. Walls' Prima Donna Roxy Cool Gave her handler a hard time today but has good attributes - strong head, good outline, correct topline and tailset.

Good straight front although a little wide for me 3. Harris' Ruffntuff Beki Breach Croft Nice bitch. Unfortunately not confident in the ring today and therefore would not settle. Good harsh coat & spannable.

Graduate Bitch (5/0) 1. Nixon's Gonetoground Go for Gold Tan and White. Good for size with typical head and lovely expression. Excellent coat and spannable . Moved ok. 2. Chen's Pacolito Phaithfull to Boultmoor Bigger bitch overall but well put together. Alert expression. Showed well for handler. 3. Frost-Coppings' Goldfern Grand Cru Tan and White. Post Graduate Bitch (5/1) 1. Nield's Logierait Little Lotte as above. 2. Sollis and Neal's Ucando Magic Bitch of the correct size with lovely shaped head with excellent neck. Moved ok. Lots to like about her but not such a strong topline as 1. 3. Newport's Pacolito Secret Image Slightly bigger bitch than first two with. Solid and well built with good front. Spannable but sadly lacking in coat today.

Limit Bitch (9/0) One of the strongest classes of the day…. 1. Baker's Pacolito Persuit A real showgirl, with a beautiful head and alert expression. Lovely sized bitch in good coat. Good topline and tailset. Moved out particularly well in her class. BCC and RBIS 2. Tagg's Hoolmark Tidy Lovely balanced bitch whose heart was not in the show ring today. Great head and expression. Well angulated rear end that helped her move with purpose. Could easily win higher honours on another day. 3. Roberts and Todd's Chataway Careless Another strong bitch, handled well. Many attributes to like but preferred the movement of 1 and 2.

Open Bitch (9/2) 1. Baker's Pacolito Persistant Tan and White, Has a good head with alert expression. Good overall for head neck & tail. Spannable but topline looked better on the move. 2. Veteran Bitch (7/0) 1. Lightfoot's Middlemoss the Only One 7yrs Still in great condition with correct topline, good coat and easily spannable. Lovely head and expression. Strong quarters which enable her to cover the ground with ease. Moved best in the class. Pleased to give her RBVIS 2. Nield's Janey of St Clair at Logerait Showy girl, with nice expression. Short coupled. Front could be narrower but this could be down to age, only just spannable and movement not as relaxed as 1. 3. Brown and Grange's Afinlea Garden Tiger 12 yrs.
